Mainland’s Tatum picks a college

Months past his senior season, the four-star highly recruited Marcus Tatum has chosen the University of Tennessee to forward his playing career and education.

Standing at 6 feet 6 inches, and weighing 260 pounds, Tatum was coveted by nearly every major college, including the University of Florida, Alabama, Auburn and many more. Tatum was ranked the No. 2 offensive lineman in the state, 32nd in the nation, according to ESPN.

Crosstown basketball showdown

Round No. 2 of the crosstown showdown quadruple-header between Mainland and Seabreeze will tip off at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Mainland.

The junior varsity girls will play the first game, and the boys will begin at 4 p.m. The varsity girls will start at 5:30 p.m., and the boys will tip off at 7 p.m.

In the last battles, Mainland won every game except the boys’ varsity game, which the Sandcrabs won 60-48, though the game was a lot closer.
