Information. An officer was at a bank on an unrelated matter when he was contacted by bank management. They told him the suspect was trying to get a man to purchase a money order for $221,000. The man said they had been dating for 11 years and the suspect was in need of a liver transplant due to cancer. He also said he believed that the suspect had met with doctors at the Mayo clinic and surgery was scheduled because a donor had been found.
The suspect said she needed to pay for the surgery up front. When questioned by the officer, she could not provide the name of any physician who had treated her or provide any information about treatment at the Mayo Clinic.
An associate of the suspect, who was at the bank, said he was a representative of the Mayo Clinic. Later, he said he was a nurse for the suspect’s doctor and then said he was an associate of the suspect. He was dressed in nurse scrubs with what appeared to be a homemade identification badge.
After being told of the inconsistencies in the stories, the man decided not to make any transactions that day. The bank placed several warnings on his account.

Theft. A city contractor had been at a house and found that a straight pipe, or “jumper,” was in use.
Officers arrived, and were advised by a city employee that the homeowners were using city water without paying for it. The worker opened the water box, but there was no jumper pipe. It had apparently been removed. It was unknown how much water had been used illegally. The worker said he knocked on the door but no one would answer.

Possession of Marijuana. A car was pulled over for stopping at a stop sign. The officer noted that the passenger was previously seen riding a skate board on South Atlantic Avenue.
The driver spontaneously told the officer that he just bought seven grams of marijuana from the passenger for $100 and it was located in the door pocket.
The passenger agreed to talk and verified the story. He had $100 in denominations listed by the driver ad also a marijuana “joint” in a cigarette package.
The driver said he buys the marijuana a couple of times a month from the other suspect, after calling to arrange the deal. Usually he buys only 3.5 grams, but today he was buying for a friend’s birthday.
The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana under 20 grams. He did not have any Failure to Appears in his history, so was released with a notice to appear.
The passenger was arrested for selling narcotics and possession of marijuana.
