The anticipated interchange at Matanzas Woods Parkway and Interstate 95 could be done by March 24, a month earlier than originally planned, according to County Administrator Craig Coffey.
The work crews have been working day and night, Coffey said. “We’ve tried to push the construction as quickly as possible.”
Housing developments in the northern part of Palm Coast could benefit from the new access point along I-95. A consultant told the Flagler County School Board last month that one development in particular, the 250-unit Palm Coast Park, “is the one positioned to take benefit from the Matanzas interchange.”
As recently as last month, the city of Palm Coast sent out a press release mentioning that the interchange should be open by June.
The county reported in November that the interchange is a nearly $9 million project that has been in the works for a decade. Funding has come from federal and state sources.
