1:16 p.m. First block of Bud Hollow Drive. Burglary: A man who does maintenance work for bank-owned properties went to a home owned by a bank to do some work. When he got there, the air conditioning unit was gone, according to a Sheriff's Office report. The home was last occupied around Jan. 1, he told a Sheriff's Office deputy, and no one has done any work there since the last tenant was evicted. The air conditioning unit was a Gray Trade model worth about $4,600.
BMW recovered moments after being reported stolen — but in a retention pond
12:36 a.m. First block of Old Kings Road North. Stolen vehicle: A 21-year-old man went bowling, but when he got out of the bowling alley in the early morning hours, his BMW, a 2008 four-door worth about $17,000, according to a Sheriff's Office report. The man called 911, but as a deputy was entering the missing car in national and state crime databases, the Sheriff's Office got a teletype from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office that they found the car — in a retention pond. The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office had the car towed and called the man to come get it.
