Art of Healing students 'setting the world on fire'

The Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center's class continues to be a success.

Peggy Yacovone paints a few strokes of yellow above the already reddish orange lines on her paper. 

"I'm setting the world on fire," she says with a grin. Yacovone went with a warm-tone pallette because she said she's always choosing blues and purples — as evident by her purple pants and jacket.

Choosing colors outside their comfort zones seemed be a common theme among Thursday's Art of Healing Workshop at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum. The class, which partners with the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, helps participants heal through creativity and art projects. The Expressive Mark Making With Paint class, held Jan. 28, was completely booked, and instructor Kristin Heron even had to wrangle up a few extra chairs to make sure all 21 participants had a place to sit.
