Flagler Beach voters won't get to select their City Commission members this year, as the only two candidates have already been elected without opposition.
Incumbent Flagler Beach City Commissioner Jane Mealy faced no challengers for reelection, and City Commission candidate Rick Belhumeur will take the place of current Commissioner Steve Settle, who did not file for re-election as of the 5 p.m. Jan. 22 deadline, according to city staff.
Mealy and Settle were the only two candidates to file for this year's City Commission election, which would have been held alongside the presidential primary on March 15.
Mealy was first elected to the commission in 2006; Settle was first elected in 2010. Belhumeur often attends City Commission meetings and has served on a number of local boards, including the city's Planning and Architectural Review Board, the county's Affordable Housing Committee, the Transportation Planning Organization and the Flagler County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
Mealy and Belhumeur will take their seats at a sine die meeting March 24.
