An Ormond Beach man, William Lisle, 59, was killed in a traffic crash in Brevard County on June 30, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lisle was driving a 1995 semitrailer northbound on Interstate 95 at 9:20 a.m. at mile marker 176. At the same time, Douglas Platt, 48, of Melbourne, was driving southbound, carrying an excavator on a semitrailer. Police say Platt’s truck had a tire separation and traveled into the median and through the guardrail. The excavator separated from the truck and struck Lisle’s truck head-on. Lisle was pronounced dead by the medical examiner.

Platt was taken to Holmes Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Two cars were struck by debris. The crash is under investigation.
