July 8

Stolen kayak for sale

8:40 a.m. — 100 Block of River Bluff Drive 

Theft. The homeowner reported two kayaks missing from the boat ramp in back of her house on the river. She had found one of the kayaks for sale on Craigslist with a name and a number. She said she wished to pursue charges.

 

July 10

Restroom dishwasher

8:00 a.m. — 500 Block of Shadow Lakes Boulevard

Burglary. Two dishwashers were stolen from the ladies restroom at the neighborhood swimming pool. The manager said they were being stored in the restroom, and the door was unlocked except when the pool was closed.

Mysterious bullet

8:14 p.m. — 100 Block of West Granada Boulevard 

Suspicious Incident. An officer exited his patrol vehicle at police headquarters and walked over to talk to another officer. He then observed a spent bullet lying on the ground behind the other vehicle. It had rifling marks and the nose was flattened. No damage could be found to nearby area or vehicles. The bullet was placed into evidence.

 

July 12

Glove or jewelry box?

8:12 a.m. — 900 Block of Cordova Avenue 

Car Break. When the witness went to her car to go to work in the morning, she saw it had been broken into. The jewelry box that was in the glove box was missing.

She said the car was locked but there were no signs of forced entry.

The jewelry box contained a white pearl necklace, white pearl earrings, pink pearl necklace, pink pearl bracelet, yellow gold charms and a class ring. The value is approximately $1,000.

 

July 13

But they’re the right size

4:00 p.m. — 1500 Block of West Granada Boulevard 

Petit Theft. The store employee said the suspect placed clothing items into a store bag, in an apparent attempt to make them appear purchased.

In a post-Miranda interview, the suspect said she forgot to bring her credit card and had no way to pay for the items. She said she didn’t want to put them back because she had found all the right sizes.

The suspect was arrested and given a notice to appear in court because she had no prior convictions or failures to appear.

 

July 14

Out of gas?

2:17 p.m. — Appaloosa Trail and Cherokee Trail 

Suspicious Incident. A witness reported that a male was walking around the neighborhood, and he looked out of place and suspicious. When confronted by the witness, the suspect said he was lost and almost out of gas.

The suspect then got into a car and left at a high rate of speed. The witness followed the car and it went north on Interstate 95. He was able to get the license number, and the officer documented the information.
