Ormond Beach Kathy Thompson directed and wrote "Cinder-Ella."
Ormond Beach resident Kathy Thompson wrote and directed the Daytona Playhouse's lastest performance, "Cinder-Ella." A panto comedy of a favorite classic fairy tale whirls through a parallel kingdom of twists and turns to the original story, the audiences are regularly asked to participate.
In Volucy Kingdom, the widowed baron's daughter is just Ella, a pretty, young lady (so some things don't change) who can be a bit of a spitfire sometimes. She and her friends hold their own with the likes of the glib knights and charming squire they encounter in the woods...woods teeming with white rabbits, fairies, wolves, and witches: all the usual suspects that inhabit these tales.
Queen Gilda weary of politics and dealing with the sorriest mess of ministers imaginable, is ready to retire and pass the scepter to reluctant Prince Richie. The only hitch, Richie must first take a bride. While it might seem predictable at first, these are different times. Nepotism, special interest groups, and secret deals abound. And the question is; does the average love potion also cure cat allergies?
