Community Flagler County Association of Realtors hosted a beach cleanup at Jungle Hut Road Park on Saturday, July 16, as the community project of the 2016 FCAR Leadership Academy. Matthew Wilson is the leadership chairman of the academy, with members Marc Bellapianta, Kendall Caputo, Heather Dalrymple, Darren Delgado, Cornelia Downing Manfre, Charles Duffy, Dee Hawkins, Eddie Marcal, Lisa Peterson and Vicki Rhonemus.
A new addition to the program is to have guidance with a personal mentor. The mentors are Carmen Bongiovanni, Marsha Corby, Lindsay Dolamore, Gail Downs and Jimmy Millhollin. To get involved, call FCAR at 437-0095.
The Flagler Home Builders Association has revived its School Backpack Program by delivering 100 backpacks full of school supplies to Emanuel’s Closet for distribution to the county’s neediest.
For the 2016-17 school year, HBA members will contribute and participate in programs at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Elementary school kids are encouraged to join Brick Builders clubs available at all district schools and participate in Home Building 101 and the Parade of Homes. Buddy Taylor Middle school will have a new Future Builders Club focused on getting kids to look towards construction as a career.
At Matanzas High School, FHBA has its largest project, Construction Tech, in which students will be building a storage shed and outdoor construction lab. Flagler Home Builders will also pay nearly $2.5 million in impact fees to the school district this year.
Terri Adams opened Little Shop of Music on June 15 in a celebration through the Flagler Chamber. She reported that entertainment was unexpectedly provided by County Commissioner Nate McLaughlin.
“Much to my surprise, he sat down and played nearly the entire time!” Adams wrote via email. “I had planned on playing but was thrilled because I could then spend time with guests. And he’s very good!”

Wayne Peters, a licensee owner with Spherion Staffing, opened a new Palm Coast office in May and celebrated 21 years in business with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The address of the new office, which is the compay’s third office in the region, is 1 Florida Park Drive, Suite 332, and the branch manager is Danielle Silva. Spherion is the oldest staffing agency in St. Johns and Flagler County with has a local staffing presence, according to a press release.
Servpro of Flagler County, owned by Michael J. Lilly, was recognized for outstanding revenue performance during the 47th Annual Servpro Convention from June 26 to 30, in Las Vegas. Lilly also received the Chairman’s Bronze Award. Call 447-2202.
Seagate Homes pulled two single-family home permits through the city of Palm Coast last week. One was for $274,000 at 10 Sea Green Path, the other for $285,000 at 27 Collingdale Court.
A third home will be built for $309,000 by Vanacore Construction at 112 Edward Drive.
Real Green Inc., a lawn and garden care store, was awarded an occupancy permit by the city of Palm Coast last week. The permit was issued to Miles Roth, at 15 Hargrove Lane, Unit 6F.
Another new business, Monroe Aerospace, is moving into 3 Hargrove Grade.
Florida’s housing market reported higher median prices and fewer days to a contract in June, according to the latest housing data released by Florida Realtors. Closed sales of single-family homes statewide totaled 27,086 last month — 0.4% higher than the June 2015 level of 26,973 closed sales.
Also in June, sellers of existing single-family homes received 96.3% (median percentage) of their original listing price, while those selling townhouse-condo properties received 94.6% (median percentage).

Installation of irrigation has begun around the perimeter of Holland Park, as construction continues on Florida Park Drive. Basketball fence posts have also been installed, and tennis fence post installation has begun, according to the city of Palm Coast’s Week in Review.
