App to get robbed
11:30 p.m. — 600 Block of Hand Avenue
Burglary, Grand Theft. The victim met the suspect over a mobile app. They were in contact over their phones, and the suspect was dropped off at the victim’s house by an unknown person.
After a short time, the victim said he was not feeling well and asked the victim to take him home.
Upon returning, the victim found his home ransacked, and several items missing.
The victim texted the suspect but never got an answer.
Reviewing his security footage, he saw a man and woman enter his house after he left with the suspect.
A search warrant was obtained at a hotel where the suspect was staying. He was arrested along with another suspect who admitted in a post-Miranda interview that he would burglarize homes after the first suspect lured them away. They communicated by cell phone.
The officer noted that various police agencies were investigating similar crimes.
‘She won’t miss one check’
8:00 a.m. — First Block of Horseshoe Falls Drive
Petit Theft. The victim said the suspect had stayed with her for a night and stole a check from her check book. The victim first noticed something wrong when her debit card was declined. She checked her account and found that the suspect wrote a check to herself and deposited it in another city. The victim had not noticed the check was missing because it was the last check in the book.
No bones about it
12:20 p.m. — First Block of North Beach Street
Information. The witness said that he found two bones near the river and one looked like a human femur. After taking them home and looking up information on the Internet, he believed they were human. The OBPD evidence technician took the bones to the Medical Examiner who identified them as cow bones.
Good deed punished
9:40 p.m. — Division Avenue and South Yonge Street
Robbery by Sudden Snatching. The victim said he was sitting at a bus stop when the suspect asked for a quarter to complete his bus fare. The victim pulled out his wallet and the suspect grabbed it and tried to pry it from his grasp.
After hitting the victim, the suspect was able to flee with the wallet which had $30 to $40. A perimeter was set up and a sheriff’s K-9 found the wallet in some bushes. Later, a suspect matching the description was located and brought back to the scene where he was identified and arrested.
Not that kind of detailing
7:47 p.m. — 200 Block of Tomoka Avenue
Information. The victim dropped off his car at a business for detailing and when he returned, he saw tools laid out across the top of his vehicle with nothing to protect the car.
He noticed scratches in various locations, dents in the trunk and cuts in window seals.
He said he had contacted his insurance company also wanted a police report.
