Those who missed the New Orleans Mardi Gras this year got a second chance to enjoy a similar festival, thanks to the Flagler County Synchro Belles, who performed a Mardi Gras-themed water show on Sunday, June 5, at the Belle Terre Swim and Racquet Club.

“This was the most enthusiastic crowd we ever had,” said Isabella Vasconcellos, Synchro Belles’ coach. “Perhaps, it was because the theme of this year's water show was a very cheerful one. The Mardi Gras songs had the audience dancing, and dinner was the authentic New Orleans style.” The dinner menu included Jambalaya and barbeque pulled pork with a variety of sides.

The Synchro Belles executed 20 different routines—some solos, duets, trios and combos—throughout the evening, quickly changing into different attire to match their themes, and the audience seemed to love every minute of it.

They danced and flipped to melodies like the world renowned “Star Wars,” “Here Comes the Lion Guard” and “Minions,” and Mardi Gras-styled “Witch Doctor,” “Flamenco” and “Ebloui Par La Nuit.”

“The swimmers knew how to liven up the show with their intricate moves, flying lifts and amazing choreographies,” Vasconcellos said. “It was a pleasant evening full of memorable moments.”
