Over the course of 24 hours at an estimated 500 locations in more than 20 countries, tens of thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities around the world will unite for the seventh year in a row for the "World's Largest Swimming Lesson."

Since its inception, more than 155,000 children and adults have participated in WLSL lessons. The 2015 WLSL event included 38,170 participants from 22 countries.

According to a press release from the YMCA, drowning remains the leading cause of unintended injury related death for children ages 1-4, and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under 14. Research shows that formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88%.

Swimming lessons will be held at 1 p.m., June 24 at the Ormond YMCA, 500 Sterthaus Dr. Call 673-9622 for more info.
