Wagner receives top recognition at combine
Matanzas quarterback was chosen to participate in the Blue-Grey National All-American Super Combine two-day event on June 11-12, at Daytona Memorial Stadium. His selection was determined from his previous showing in the regional combine and his 2015 season.
Wagner participated as a receiver, and he hopes his performance proved enough to secure one of the four receiver spots for the nationally televised Blue-Grey All-American Bowl.
Wagner won a medal for the fastest shuttle time (4.34), and he tied for most bench press reps with 14.
FPC wrestling reaches All-American status
The Flagler Palm Coast wrestling team competed in and placed fifth at the AAU National Scholastic Duals this past weekend at the ESPN Wide World Sports Complex. The tournament featured 50 teams from across the country.
The Top 8 teams were labeled All-Americans. Flagler Palm Coast went 11-3 throughout the tournament, 7-1 in its pool. FPC went 4-2 in the championship bracket.
The Bulldogs defeated Social Circle, Georgia’s three-time reigning state champions, for fifth place.
Michael DeAugustino went 14-0 at 120 pounds, not giving up a single takedown. Avery Holder went 12-2 at 126 pounds; Kaz Maia, 11-2 at 145 pounds; and Evyn Insalaco, 12-2 at 152 pounds. All four wrestlers achieved All-American status.
Smith grabs MVP honors
Kadon Smith, 8, recently attended the Jacksonville Offense-Defense Camp in Jacksonville, where he received the MVP for tight end. Kadon finished second at the tight end position, as well as second in defensive line for his age division. He was invited to attend the Youth All-American Bowl in December in Atlanta.
FPC Lady Dawgs go undefeated
In their next-to-last summer camp tournament, the FPC Lady Bulldogs went 5-0 at the Stetson camp this past weekend.
They will play their final tournament this weekend at Jacksonville University.
