Ormond Beach resident promoted to Coast Guard commander

Charles Leffler assumed his duties as commander June 17.

Former Coast Guard Lieutenant Junior Grade Charles Leffler was recently promoted to commander officer of the USCGC Shrike after serving as the executive officer on board the USCGC Wrangell to patrol forces in Southwest Asia.

A 2013 graduate from the Coast Guard Academy, Leffler served two years as a deck watch officer on the USCGC Munro. He was also a 2009 graduate of Spruce Creek.
