Three local residents will be on a weekly TV show for the summer, and a crowd of friends and supporters gathered at Houligan’s Restaurant, 1110 W. Granada Blvd., on June 23 to watch the premiere episode.

Brian Nave, his brother, Michael Nave and Joe Johnson filmed 10 episodes of “Battlebots” on ABC over 11 days in Los Angeles in April.

The center of attention at Houligan’s was the robot itself, Captain Shrederator, which has spinning blades to cut into the opponents. At 250 lbs and 2,000 rpm, the robot seems like a formidable fighter, but the final result of the “Battlebots” contest will be a secret until the final episode.

Nave owns a company called Logicom Logic Systems, where he designs control systems for industrial robots. He has previously been on “Battlebots”, “Robot Wars” on TNN and “Robotics” on The Learning Channel. He had his own show on the DIY channel called “Robot Rivals.” In 2002, 2003 and 2004, he had a robot combat show at the Performing Arts Center in Ormond Beach, and he has written for Robot Magazine.
