It's been a good week for 5-year-old Lyla Bear.
After weeks of being in the hospital due to complications from her leukemia diagnosis, the Ormond Beach girl and her family received the best possible news: she is now cancer free.
"Thank you Jesus for healing our precious baby girl," her mom, Amanda Bear, posted on Facebook. "She will still continue on treatment in hopes of it never returning. Our goal is to be home by the end of this weekend."
This news came a week after the Bear family received a donation from Camp Brave, a kids camp at Oasis Church. In one week they raised enough money to send the family on a cruise and give them a check for $6,500.
The church is continuing its partnership with the local childhood cancer foundation to support the 38 families in Voluisa County with children battling childhood cancer through their upcoming Better Together event. Held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 9 in Rockefeller Gardens, the event will raise money to be given directly to the foundation.
