Beach awarded top student-athlete

Lady Sandcrab Hailey Beach was named the Ormond Beach Lions Club’s Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of February.

Hailey ranks fourth in her class with a 4.49 GPA, an 1800 SAT and a 27 ACT score. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. She participates in a variety of community service and church-sponsored projects, including the Tim Tebow Foundation’s “Night to Share”.

Beach is a four-year Seabreeze soccer player. She was the team’s goalie and captain, and helped lead the team to the district championship this year. She also served as team captain of the school’s flag football team during her sophomore and junior years. She plans to attend the University of Florida in the fall, where she plans to pursue a career in the medical field.

Fagan picks The ‘Noles

Mainland’s Cyrus Fagan, the No. 2-ranked safety in the state, has committed to Florida State University. The soon-to-be senior, and four-star prospect, was heavily recruited by all of the nation’s top colleges, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and defensive-minded LSU.

“I felt like it was time,” Fagan said. “FSU has been my dream place since childhood.”

Fagan will soon join former Buccaneer A.J. Westbrook, who currently plays for the Seminoles, but, until then, he’s focused to win a state championship with Mainland this upcoming season.
