The Seabreeze Lady Sandcrabs had no problems putting away the Matanzas Pirates 26-7 on Thursday, Mar. 10, at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.
McKenzie Bowlus, the two-time reigning Bright House Flag Football Player of the Year winner, threw for 200 yards and four touchdown passes, three to Christen Helem and another to freshman Abby Gabriel. She also hit Helem and Mikayla Laks for the Sandcrabs’ two two-point conversions. On defense, Bowlus, Grace Rodriguez and Maddie Walther each grabbed an Interception.
Seabreeze is off to a 2-0 start, and will put its young undefeated district record on the line next week against New Smyrna Beach and Atlantic.
“It’s a long way to go, but it’s a good start,” coach Blake Hillman said. “As long as McKenzie continues to play the way she’s playing, I think we can go a long way.”
