Representing retired greyhounds, Honey, Shonda and Tony sat quietly at Dave DiVito's feet, during the opening night of the Flagler County Art League's opening reception for “Oh Those Glorious Creatures” exhibit.
“Every couple of years we have a themed show about animals,” Art League President Ann DeLucia said., “”And every single time we do we use it as an opportunity to fund raise for an animal rescue organization.”
The organization benefiting from this show was the Greyhound Pets of America Daytona Beach. An organization that works with the Daytona Beach greyhound track, and finds homes for retired racing dogs.
The exhibit featured 67 works of art that included stained glass, sculpture, photography and paintings.
The winners were:
Best of Show - “I've Had Enough” photography by David Bowers
First Place - “Wapiti in the Aspens” stained glass by Lee Richards
Second Place - “Honu” acrylic by Beverly Ulrich
Third Place - “Yosmite Bison” photography by Joe de Figuieredo
People's Choice - "Which Way to Carnegie Hall" photography by David Bowers paired with Port Orange poet Linda Eve Diamond's poem “The Bow Frog”
