Get well soon, Ryan!
Riding home from a fishing trip with his father, Frank, a few weeks ago, Ryan Dudley, a Matanzas baseball player, went into a seizure.
“I kept asking him if was OK, and he gave me a thumbs up,” Frank said. Although Ryan was able to recover from his seizure, getting to the hospital, the doctors notified his parents that he had a tumor the size of a baseball in his head. He was then transported to Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital where they performed brain surgery and removed the tumor.
After seven days, Dudley was discharged a week before he was selected as one honorary first pitchers for the Flagler Baseball opening ceremonies. He was told that his condition Less than a 5% chance of ever coming back. He will not be able to play any contact sports for a year, so he has to wait his junior year to play again.
Throughout the journey, the Dudley says they were supported by family, friends, community and the medical personnel who attended Ryan.
