There's nothing sweeter than your child saying "mamma." Just ask Ashley Higgins.

A 10-second cell phone video was posted on Ashley Higgins' Face Book page Sunday night, March 13. A very special video that can't help but put smiles on the faces of those who know her son Cameron well, and those who know him only from news reports.

Cameron said his first words since being life flighted to Wolfsons Children's Hospital in Jacksonville on Feb. 5 – “Momma,” followed by “I love you.” Cameron was diagnosed with AVM (arteriovenous malformation).

After being transferred to Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, an infection sent him right back to Wolfsons, but now he is back at Brooks and improving every day.

An update Higgins posted on Cameron's gofundme page:

I know I haven't updated you all in a few days, so I will do my best to capture all that has transpired.

First, let me say just how proud I am to be the mother of such an amazing young man. Sometimes I look at him and literally lose my breath from such strong emotions. He is so determined to get back to his old life and self. Since I last updated, he has been eating most all of his meals and the feeding tube is definitely not going back in. He is also getting stronger with each day. I have noticed during transfers (when I transfer him into the wheelchair from the bed), he holds his own weight. I can hold him up under his arms, and he will stand on his own two feet! (before, his legs were limp and I had to do all of the work).

We have had many visitors in the past couple of days. One of his old buddy's from Bella Harbor came to visit with his mom. He is also in Boy Scouts and made sure to visit Cameron in full uniform.

His grandparents also visited today and brought their kitty cat, Ziggy, and their pup, Sassy. We took Cameron outside so that he could visit with them. He was all smiles. Kaypa (Joe Harkness) also came to visit today and brought his kids to hang with Cameron for a bit.

Cameron's daddy (Kyle) was also here most of the day today. They had a nice time together. Kyle even let Cameron eat part of a doughnut when I went to dinner. (Against the Doctors orders, but he didn't realize that...lol) Kyle said he ate it like a champ! When I told Cameron that he and daddy broke the rules, he immediately let out a little laugh). Looks like he will be graduating to more solid foods in the very near future.

Cameron also got his first shower in the shower wheelchair tonight (first shower in two weeks, other than sponge bed baths). He did even better than I thought he would do. The shower wheelchair has no torso or head support, which is why we haven't used it before. But tonight, we decided to give it a go, and he did amazing. He even helped me position himself in the chair by holding onto the arm rail (with left hand) and pushing with his feet to get his bottom further back in the chair! Now that he is all clean, he will have a great nights rest.
There isn't much therapy on the weekends here, so feel free to visit us if your in the area!

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and positive energy!
