Kodi likes to visit the vet, he just doesn't want to be touched

Nails trimmed, heart worm negative, and no hard feelings after vet visit.

Kodi loves riding in the car, even if it means going for a vet visit. Car rides are an adventure, with the first half of the trip spent convincing him that riding in the front isn't going to happen – and he's definitely not driving.

Visiting the vet is also an adventure (for all concerned).

Kodi loves checking out the office, and greets everyone with that Corgi smile and wagging fluff butt. Then the metal exam table is lowered from it's flush position on the exam room wall.

The butt still wags, but the ears go back and the realization sinks in – this is not a social visit.

I don't get professional mani-pedis but Kodi does, and I don't think the vet is charging enough. Kodi does not like his paws touched, nor does he like his nails clipped.

It has taken up to four full-grown adults to hold this 31-pound pup still for his nail clipping. This time it only took two people – one to hold and the person clipping.

Was it because Buddy, the new pup in the household, was in the room? Did he have to put on a brave smile to retain his alpha dog status? I don't know, but we were all pleasantly surprised.

The vet was called in to take blood for the heartworm test since Kodi is known to flip about like a kite in a hurricane. But this time Dr. Freiberg took Kodi's leg, inserted the needle, drew the blood, and looked at us like we were all crazy. Kodi was perfect – there is a first time for everything.

Buddy was also a trooper when it came his time for the same procedures. Everyone passed with flying colors, and both dogs had lost a pound or two each – much better than gaining the weight.

I wish I had taken my camera. This visit was one to be documented, perhaps framed.
