A local woman was walking across a residential Palm Coast street when a sport utility vehicle struck her, and its passenger got out and grabbed thousands of dollars from the injured victim's purse, the victim told a Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputy May 10.
The 27-year-old victim told the deputy that "her right foot was broken, her left ankle had a large hole in it, her right elbow has a large laceration, and she has road rash on approximately eighty percent of her body," the deputy wrote in a report.
The victim was also pregnant, and "stated the baby was fine, and that was the only part of her body that was not injured," the deputy wrote in the report.
The woman, a Bunnell resident, told the deputy that the attack happened when she visited a Palm Coast man at his house May 7 on Birdseye Place, just west of Bird of Paradise Drive, according to the report.
The woman was crossing the street to get to her car at about 5 p.m. when she was hit by a dark blue SUV — perhaps a Chevy, she later told the deputy. A passenger in the car — a woman whose name the victim gave to the deputy — got out of the SUV, grabbed her purse, removed about $3,000 in cash and fled, according to the report.
The man the victim was visiting saw the attack and drove the victim to Florida Hospital Flagler, she told the deputy. The man told her he recognized the car's driver. The alleged driver's and passenger's identities are redacted in the Sheriff's Office report.
The deputy photographed the victim's injuries.
