Like many former students of the class of 1966, Larry Frank has many memories of his time at Seabreeze High School — some good, some bad.
"I still have nightmares about not being able to find my locker," he laughed as he walked the through halls 50 years later.
A part of the Class of '66 Reunion Planning Committee, Frank did his due dilligence in tracking down all his former classmates from Seabreeze, and even a little further back.
John Patrick and Harvey Newton were just two of a larger group that also attended Merricourt Kindergarten and Play School with Frank back in 1954. Though they didn't hang out much during high school, they've enjoyed reconnecting as adults.
"I had a good time in school," Newton said. "I didn't excel as a student by any means, but I mange to graduate."
"We're survivors," chimed in Frank. "We showed up. That's half the battle."
Former principal and Ormond Beach mayor Carl Persis is also on the committee, and says his job is to create a playlist of tunes from the 1960s for the party. He said his favorite memories are winning a contest to see the Beatles perform on "The Ed Sullivan Show," and having to go with his football coach to bring the surfers who skipped class back in from the beach.
"They would be in class with their hair all wet, and I just thought it was so funny," he said. "Seabreeze was just great."
