While the term may seem slightly derogatory, a beer snob is simply someone who knows their beer, according to Ormond Brewing Company President Justin Robinson.

"It's a group of people who are more educated than the common person about beer," he said. "They know a lot more about what they're drinking, like the different styles and what kinds of hops are in them."

In honor of all the local beer snobs — which Ormond Brewing has been consistently churning out —the company is releasing two new brews: an imperial style IPA aged in a tequila barrel and their seasonal blueberry wheat beer. That one, is purple.

"I don't think a week is long enough. It's just a glimpse, not the whole industry."

When it comes to the taste palates of the average beer snob, one of the main distinction is having a taste for hops.

"We do a tropical IPA, and I have a friend who's a beer snob say it wasn't hoppy enough for him," Robinson said. "It's too hoppy for a lot of people, but beer snobs' palates are accustomed to drinking really hoppy beers. It's like people with hot sauce. It's the same thing."

For someone who's not sure to a hoppy beer, the taste can be very bitter.
