For awhile, Dan McGrane was throwing a party every couple weeks. During the process of testing out his beers for his new brewery, McGrane hosted tasting parties for his friends and family to give him feedback. Needless to say, he was very popular during that time.

"I'd have 15 gallons of beer and invited 30 people over," he smiled. "I can only drink so much."

Currently, he has 1,500 gallons of 10 different kinds of beer he'll be selling at Beachside Brew Pub, 1368 Ocean Shore Blvd., which he hopes to open soon. McGrane started brewing as a hobby, but his beer grew far too popular among his friends and family for it to stay just a hobby.

"Everybody loved my beer," he laughed.

Beachside Brew Pub currently features a large garage door that McGrane installed to get a good ocean breeze. In the future, he hopes to have live acoustic musicians, a rooftop deck and to serve healthy appetizer sized food.

"I want you to drink your carbs," he said. "Hopefully I'll have some local, wild caught fish and meat with really fresh veggies and well thought out seasoning."

A longtime Ormond Beach resident, McGrane said he's always wanted to open up a brewery — though it's technically owned by his sister, Maura McGrane.

"You should be able to be successful when you're manufacturing your own product," he said. "Fresh beer is better beer."
