In an effort to bring a little more color into our world, the Studio A Project is hosting their first ever exhibit as a group.

Founded just over a year ago, the group of 14 artists came together to try their hand at experimental creativity in a setting of constructive — but always well-intentioned — criticism.

"There are times where I'm feeling kind of insecure about where I am," said Kathy Kurke, "and I get a group hug. We always help each other feel a little better. A bad painting doesn't make you a bad painter."

"The mermaid. I usually struggle with figures, but she showed up. I wasn't drawing or painting her, and my teacher said 'Look closely. There's a figure there.' And I saw her and at the bottom weren't feet, but flippers. I called in 'The Current,' because a mermaid swims in her own current like people do. Sometimes we swim against our current and that's when life gets screwed up."
