Pirates top senior athletes
Matanzas conducted its annual Senior Athletics Ceremony Tuesday, May 24, at Matanzas. Among Scholar Athlete of the Year and other awards, Pirate Nation selected Gunner Parson and Bella Benvenuto for Matanzas Male and Female Senior Athlete of the Year. Their resumes are as follows:

Pirates get test against defending champs
Matanzas went up north for its spring football game to play Class 2A State Champion University Christian (Jax) on Friday, May 21, in Jacksonville.
University outscored the Pirates 12-7 in three quarters, and their JV team also added six points against Matanzas. Pirates
freshman William Cowles provided the only Matanzas score, a 52-yard run before halftime.
FPC top athletes
It is no surprise that senior Justin Pacifico, after his historic season in both track and cross country, was selected as the Male Outstanding Athlete of the Year, and Tamara Henshaw, after taking the Lady Bulldogs back to the postseason, with a 24-2 record, was selected as the Female Outstanding Athlete of the Year, at Flagler Palm Coast’s annual Outstanding Athlete Banquet Thursday, May 12, at the Hilton Garden Inn.

SynchroBelles top nationals
The Flagler County Synchro Belles’ Junior Team returned from last month’s USA Synchro Nationals Competition with a fifth-place team finish in Mesa, Arizona.
Junior Duet Breanna Malone and Samile Daiha earned 10th place overall, and the 13-15 team took 11th.
Malone and Liz Basan placed 15th and 24th, respectively, in the solo swim division.
The SynchroBelles are currently preparing for their annual Water Show Fundraiser, which will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, at its location at the Belle Terre Swim and Racquet Club.
