Burglar breaks down door, steals $665 in electronics, tools

7:21 a.m. First block of Serbian Bellflower Trail. Burglary: A woman called the Sheriff's Office and said she'd been walking her dog when she noticed her neighbor's house was open, and the neighbor didn't answer his phone when she called to check in on him. Deputies arrived at the house and found the front door kicked in and the house burglarized. A deputy searched a database to find out who the owner was, then called the owner, who said he hadn't been home for several days. When the man arrived home and checked the house, he discovered that the thief had stolen a 32-inch television, a Sony DVD player, a Ridgid router and an HP laptop computer. Altogether, the stolen items were worth about $665.

Would-be burglar tries to pry open door to unlocked house

1:31 p.m. First block of Braddock Lane. Attempted burglary: A man left his house for about 10 minutes to pick up his wife from work, locking the front door before he left. When the couple arrived back home, the door jamb was damaged, and they called the Sheriff's Office. A deputy noticed that the front door trim looked like someone had tried to pry it open. But the would-be thief apparently didn't check the home's other doors, which had not been locked. Nothing in the house was stolen, including electronics left in plain view.
