About $18,000 worth of jewelry went missing from the home of a Madeira Court, Palm Coast couple, the couple told Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

The husband told deputies that the couple was missing a diamond and sapphire bracelet worth about  $6,000; a silver hand-crafted antique bracelet worth about $3,000; a diamond and sapphire bracelet bought in Israel and worth about $3,000; a diamond and sapphire gold band worth about $3,000; and a Swiss diamond bracelet, with stones that are not real, worth about $3,000.

There were no signs of forced entry into the home, although the man said that he was usually works form home and keeps a rear door to the house locked with a deadbolt, according to a Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The man told deputies he suspected someone had picked the lock to the door and entered the house to steal the jewelry. He also said he and his wife had searched the home for the missing jewelry. The Sheriff's Office classified the case as a "suspicioius incident," not a burglary.

The man said that the jewelry had been kept in the master bedroom, and that he and his wife weren’t sure when they’d last seen it.
