A long-time Thanksgiving tradition for many local residents is returning to Ormond Beach for the 59th time.
The Gaslight Parade and Birthplace of Speed Antique Car Show is a free event that features cars from all eras.
Hosted by the Volusia Region Antique Automobile Club of America, the parade will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 25. The route begins at The Casements and heads east on Granada Boulevard to A1A, then turns right heading south to Harvard Avenue. The public can view the parade from sidewalks along East Granada Boulevard and A1A. There will be free music and food available for purchase on the south side of The Casements before the parade.
No throwing of candy from cars per City of Ormond Beach ordinance.
Participating antique cars and trucks should meet at The Casements (enter off South Halifax Drive) between 5 and 6:45 p.m. for registration and lineup.
The Antique Car Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 26 at Fortunato Park. This show is for 1988 and older vehicles. No modifieds, customs or hot rods. Registration opens for show vehicles and car sale corral is from 8 to 10 a.m. The awards presentation is at 3 p.m. Must be present to win.
This year’s show will feature the 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible, an antique vehicle that represents sleek stylish American cars of the 1960s. Other cars on display include multi-color 1950s models with spectacular styling, and antiques from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s.
The public can view the parade and show for free. There is no charge for vehicles participating in the Gaslight Parade. For general information call 677-9153. For car show registration cost information, call 761-7987.
