In the two years that retired Lieutenant General Michael Dunn spent in the White House situation room, he said President George W. Bush was never late to a meeting.
"He started on time, and it never ran over," Lt. Gen. Dunn said. "President Bush was often characterized in the press as not being very smart, but one day it was just three of us in the room talking about South America, and he named off all the countries, their political leaders, what parties those leaders affiliated with, and what challenges they faced in the next couple of years."
Throughout his 34 year career in the Air Force, Dunn served overseas in Europe, Korea, and Japan. He will give his speech "Musing of an Airman" at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum's Veterans Day event. See ormondartmuseum.org for more info. Dunn is second cousins with Wes Dunn, owner of Dunn's Attic in Ormond Beach.
