Ormond Pride win conference title
Ormond Pride 14U beat the Gainesville Rattlers 28-14 to win its conference championship for the third consecutive year on Saturday, Nov. 5, in Daytona.
The Pride are now headed to the American Youth Football Southeastern Regional Tournament from Nov. 18-20, in Bradenton FL Nov 18th-20th.

Bucs place Top 10 in state golf tourneys
The Mainland Bucs' Claire Albrecht came away with a fifth-place finish, while the boys team placed ninth at the FHSAA Golf State Championship on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Howey-in-the-Hills.
Albrecht, who placed 20th last year, shot 75-76 over two days. She will get another shot at a state title next season as a senior.
The boys' day No. 2 scores were: Scotty Greene, 83; Keith Froling, 83; Logan Reese, 88; and Tyler Reese, 90. The team shot a total of 344 on Wednesday and 349 on Tuesday.
Ormond Beach Sandcrabs win cheerleading competition
The Ormond Beach Sandcrabs Pop Warner junior varsity cheerleading won the Level-3 Cheerleading Competition during the East Coast Conference. The team will be moving on to the Southeast Regional Competition on Sunday, Nov. 27, in Orlando.

Sandcrabs place Top 15 at state cross country meet
Both Seabreeze cross country teams competed in the FHSAA Class 3A Cross Country Finals Saturday, Nov. 5, in Tallahassee.
The girls (Lea Gray, Nina Browder, Moriya Patsch, Madison Dvorak, Cindy Samaan, Isabel Mclin and Grace Smith) placed 14th, while the boys (Logan Horning, Shane Brownrigg, Jarrod Bell, Nicholas Barnes, Dylan Oakes, Ian Yates and Hunter Sweat) placed 16th.
Gray (55th) and Browder (67th) were the only girls to place inside the Top 100, and Horning (41st) and Brownrigg (61st) were the only boys to place in double digits.
Ormond Locals help make Daytona golf history
Five members of the Daytona Chapter of the Executive Women’s Golf Association advanced to the 2016 Championship Finals last month at the Lansdowne Resort & Spa in Leesburg, Virginia. Katy Nelson of Ormond Beach and Melody Kimmel, Jeannie Schreiber and Jackie Poole comprised the scramble team which played against 15 other teams. Connie Karby of Ormond Beach competed in stoke play against 27 other players in her flight.
The scramble team placed second. This is the first time that a Daytona Chapter scramble team has advanced to the finals.
