The city’s two storm debris contractors expect to complete the first pass of all streets by Nov. 12, according to a city spokeswoman. Earlier estimates had been Nov. 10.
The second pass is planned to begin Monday, Nov. 14 and the contractors will also begin to collect root balls and stumps. Construction debris will also be collected but it must be kept separate from yard debris because it’s collected by different trucks.
Contractors will begin work on the beachside and mainland simultaneously. When the beachside is completed, those units will work west of N. Nova Road. The mainland units, when complete, will move to the western portion of the city.
As of Nov. 7, 6,435 loads of debris had been collected (311,399 cubic yards) in twenty-eight days. The contractors have removed 98 leaning trees and 4,404 hanging limbs.
