Christ Presbyterian and St. James Episcopal collect over 700 items of food for Thanksgiving

The items were donated to local people in need.

Christ Presbyterian Church and St. James Episcopal Church recently partnered for a Thanksgiving Food Scavenger Hunt.

Everything from canned goods to gift cards to turkeys was collected by 50 people Nov. 4 during the churches' FUN Club, a monthly night for middle and high school students. Over 50 people split into nine cars and went to homes in the Daytona and Ormond Beach to collect over 700 items.

The items were placed into 30 bags to be distributed to those in need in the local community. There was plenty of food left over to stock the shelves in both churches pantries and more will be donated to Halifax Urban Ministries.
