Monday, Dec. 5

The Astronomy Club of Palm Coast

6 p.m., Flagler County Public Library, 2500 Palm Coast Parkway.

Celestial events for December will be discussed, and there will be a continuation of last month's science/astronomy quiz. Meetings are free and open to the public. Contact:  [email protected].

Tuesday, Dec. 6

Free Yoga Class for Cancer Survivors and Caretakers 

11 a.m., Florida Hospital Flagler, 60 Memorial Medical Parkway. Those touched by cancer, whether survivors or caregivers, are invited to join a free yoga class,focused on the integration of movements, stretches and breath awareness. 

Michel Jain, a Christina Phipps Foundation certified instructor, will teach the gentle, restorative class. The Christina Phipps Foundation provides specialized training to experienced yoga instructors, enabling them to guide cancer patients, survivors, and others with range of motion and pain limitations.

Flagler Woman’s Club Bridge and Games

Thursday, Dec. 8

New York Noir: The History of Black New York

2 p.m., every 1st, 2nd, and 4th Thursday of the month, African-American Cultural Center, 4422 N. U.S. 1. For more information, call Reinhold Schlieper at 437-8402. This critically acclaimed film examines the history of New York’s African-American citizens and culture from the early 1600s through today. Featured are segments on civil rights, politics, business, military heroes, the Harlem Renaissance and much more. Above all else, this film honors and pays tribute to the many great contributions African-Americans have made to New York, the nation, and, indeed, the world. [from the DVD’s cover].

FLAGLER COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY MONTHLY BUS TRIPS

10 a.m. Holden House, 206 East Moody Boulevard, Bunnell.  Learn about historic and interesting Flagler County sites with local author Bill Ryan as your guide.  The bus leaves at 10 a.m. from the Holden House, and returns at 2:30 p.m.  The cost is $20 per person which does not include lunch at Bull Creek Fish Camp.  To make reservations, or for more information, call 386-439-5003.
