We have a winner: Snappy Kraken was named the Most Interesting Startup in Flagler County at an event Nov. 15, at Office Divvy. There were 30 contestants for the prize of a year’s worth of services at Office Divvy.
Snappy Kraken was founded by three people: Brad DeLoatche, Angel Gonzalez and Palm Coast resident Robert Sofia.
Sofia, 35, grew up in Ocala and worked on a successful marketing company from 2009 to 2016. He used prior connections in the financial world to get Snappy Kraken started, but he hopes to expand to other sectors of the economy next year.
The company sells automated marketing services, including social media posts, online advertising and websites. A company can log in, create a profile, select a campaign, personalize it if desired, and then let Snappy Kraken do the work.
“Our long-term vision is to support small businesses with great marketing,” he said. “Right now, they don’t have that. They have to go out and build it all themselves. … We want to take the marketing out of their hands and do it in an affordable and efficient way, and let them do what they do best, which is run their business.”
Sofia’s company is also the winner of the 2016 FinTech Competition. Visit snappykraken.com.
The Most Interesting Startup was selected by a vote from a panel of judges, and there were other contestants that made it a close call. After Snappy Kraken, the top five were SparcMotors, Focaccia, Quibits Toy Inc. and HomeStaurant.

Home Instead Senior Care is inviting the community to celebrate with local seniors who may be alone during the holiday season, by participating in Be a Santa to a Senior.
It’s a community program that provides gifts and companionship to seniors who may be isolated from friends or family during the holiday season. It’s funded through the support of local businesses, nonprofits, retailers and volunteers.
“The holidays can be a troubling time for seniors. They may feel the absence or the distance of loved ones,” said David Hill, owner of the Palm Coast Home Instead Senior Care office, in a press release. “Be a Santa to a Senior provides a ray of hope for many seniors, and it means so much for them to know that people care and value them as members of our community.”
The local Home Instead Senior Care office has partnered with Walgreens, Flagler County Senior Services Program, Cadette Troop 215 with Girl Scouts of Gateway Council to help with gift collection and distribution.
Holiday shoppers are invited to participate by picking up a paper ornament at a participating location by Dec. 19. The ornaments feature seniors’ first names and their desired gifts.
Visit any of the three Walgreens locations in Palm Coast (5000 E. State Road 100, 1109 Palm Coast Parkway SW, 215 Palm Coast Parkway NE), visit BeaSantatoaSenior.com or call 986-1931.

"With the holiday season around the corner, we are all getting ready for the festivities," Vasseur said in a press release. "And as this is the season of giving, now is a great time to remember the less fortunate in our community."
