The National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs announced recently that The Global Montessori School of Ormond Beach has been awarded accreditation.
The school has been recognized as an early care and education program that exemplifies excellence and exceeds state licensing requirements, according to a press release. The process included a self-study process and an onsite observation by an early childhood professional.
The National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs is sponsored by the Association for Early Learning Leaders.

Tomoka Oaks Women’s Golf Association is looking for new members who want to play 18 holes once a week without joining a club. The women play every Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Tomoka Oaks Golf Club located on N. Nova Road in Ormond Beach. Golfers with a handicap of 36 or lower are welcome. There is an association fee of $20. The City Commission has agreed to a rate adjustment requested by Yellowstone Landscape for athletic field maintenance for the city. The contract states that the company can request an annual increase based on the consumer price index. The company requested a 1% increase.
The contract will increase from $505,766.50 to $510,824.16. The athletic fields are located at the Sports Complex.
The City Commission approved a traffic control agreement at their Sept. 20 meeting for Destination Daytona Lane, a private road located in the Destination Daytona complex at North U.S. 1 and Interstate 95.
The Ormond Beach Police Dept. has been contacted by the complex owners in the past, regarding speeding and parking complaints. For example, semi-trucks sometimes park on the road, blocking traffic. Florida statutes allow a city to take jurisdiction over a private road, if the city and private company agree.
The City Commission has approved a contract with Berry, Dunn, McNeil and Parker LLC for project management of the enterprise resource system, a city-wide software system that will replace the current system that was installed in the 1980s. The functions include accounting, budgeting, utility billing, payroll, human resources, permitting, code enforcement liens, etc.
The total contract cost for project management services is estimated to be $282,080 over the 42-month implementation period. City documents state that the update will provide additional options for payment of utility bills, animal licenses and permits.
