Adding insult to theft

10:36 p.m. — First Block of Ocean Shore Drive

Retail Theft, Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor. The victims said the suspect came into the store, walked around filling up a bag with merchandise and then came up to the counter. The suspect then said she needed to send her child, about 9 years old, out to get her wallet from their vehicle.

The suspect and child then ran out the door with the merchandise, with the victim chasing them and yelling.

Once out in the parking lot, the bag ripped and all of the merchandise fell onto the ground. The suspects ran away, so the victim started taking photos of all the cars in the parking lot in case one might belong to the suspects.

The suspect and the child then came back around the corner of the store, stopped, made faces and gave the victim the middle finger. They then got into a van and left.

It was determined that 118 makeup and hygienic items were stolen and dropped in the parking lot with a value of $1,086.53.
