Loynd sparks Sandcrabs in their first win
Just as last season, the Seabreeze Sandcrabs have earned their first win of the season, by beating the Pine Ridge Panthers 20-6 Friday, Sept. 30, at Pine Ridge.
After a typical start in which the Sandcrabs trailed 6-0 early in the game, Brody Loynd replaced a struggling Brevin Glaze and altered the game’s momentum with a couple of first-down runs.
After forcing the Panthers to punt on their first possession of the second half, the Sandcrabs’ defense blocked the punt, and Amarri Davis scooped the ball and returned it for a touchdown. Noah Motto’s extra point gave Seabreeze its rare lead at 7-6.
Later Loynd broke for an 81-yard gain to put the Sandcrabs inside the 10-yard line, and he would then call his number again and score from seven yards out. Motto added another extra point.
The special teams put up another score, when Deshawn Hugee returned a punt 80 yards to the house. Motto added another point with his field goal.
Although Loynd seems to be the offensive playmaker for the Sandcrabs, Coke confirmed that Glaze will still start at quarterback going forward, while Loynd will have a designed package.

It’s a joy. It’s all about the swimmers, and I’ve been blessed to work with some of the best”
