In the latest forecast for Volusia County from the National Hurricane Center, storm surge from Hurricane Matthew is predicted to get up to 11 feet above ground on top of at least two cycles of high tides in addition to the expected rainfall.
According to a press release from the county, the storm surge is expected to push up onto the mainland. In some areas, it could go beyond U.S. 1.
