The Halifax Humane Society has decided to extend the “Storm Troopers” program through Friday, Oct. 14, and is asking the community to host an adoptable pet starting today, Oct. 10. HHS hopes that this will allow animals to stay inside of a home instead of the kennels while they continue to repair the shelter from Hurricane Matthew.

Willing and able families are asked to stop by the shelter anytime during 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. this week to temporarily foster a dog, cat, or other adoptable pet. Animals will be returned by Oct. 14 with flexibility.

However, if Hurricane Matthew cleanup allows you to fall in love with your new friend, you are welcome to adopt the animal from HHS.
