For permits for residential and commercial emergency repairs following Hurricane Matthew, contractors and businesses must appear at the city’s Planning/Building permit counter, 22 S. Beach St., to provide their license to prove they are eligible to do the work intended as well as to receive a no-fee permit. No-fee permits for hurricane damage related work will be waived for 60 days beginning Oct. 10. The Planning/Building Department opens at 8 a.m. Tree removal permits have been temporarily suspended. The public is cautioned to hire Florida licensed contractors only and to be wary of door-to-door solicitors asking for large deposits or who promise to speed up the permit process.
