People who purchased discount tickets and wristbands at Walgreens for Prince of Peace Catholic Church’s 48th-annual Octoberfest will receive a full refund.

People are urged to hold onto their coupons and cash register receipts until a refund procedure is determined. Customers may also hold onto the coupons, as they will be honored at next year’s event which is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 12-15, 2017.

For updated refund information, call the church at 672-5272, or go online at popoctoberfest.com or princeofpeaceormond.com.

The event was canceled due to Hurricane Matthew.

“Due to the approaching storm, only about 250 pre-event ride coupons were sold," Event Co-Chairman Ron  Nowviskie said in a press release. "We appreciate those purchaser’s patience and understanding as we sort out the refund process with Walgreens.  In a normal year, about 3,000 pre-event coupons are sold. Since 1969, the Octoberfest has been one of the area’s most anticipated annual events, and we share everyone’s disappointment in not being able to get it in this year.”
