The Palm Coast Elks Lodge 2709 hosted an Animal Adopt-a-Thon on Saturday, Oct. 1, and raised $3,500 for homeless animal resource groups.
The Elk’s donated $1,500 to the Flagler Humane Society, $1,500 to the Blue Moon Cat Sanctuary, and $500 to Community Cats. In addition, all of the groups received food, litter, toys, and other supplies.
“We try to help the community all we can, whether it’s humans or critters,” Jeannie Fontana, lodge secretary and event organizer said.
Fontanna said the Elks hope to continue to support animal rescue groups in Flagler County. The donations were made possible by a grant received from the Elks National Foundation and member donations.
