Flagler Palm Coast (2-5) defeated DeLand 34-21 in the Battle of the Bulldogs showdown Friday, Oct. 21, in DeLand.
FPC's star running back Que'Shaun put together a monster game, scoring the first four touchdowns of the game. He scored from nine yards out at the end of the first quarter. Toward the end of the first half, he took an option toss and ran it 51 yards to the house for his second rushing score.
In the first several minutes of the second half, Byrd caught a three-yard pass from Darrell Thomas, and he turned it into an 80-yard touchdown catch.
On DeLand's next possession, Isaiah Stubbs intercepted the pass, and Byrd scored a 64-yard touchdown run on the next play. Byrd finished with 197 rushing yards, four three touchdowns, 80 receiving yards and a score.
Jimmy Robinson scored the other touchdown for the Bulldogs.
DeLand made a run at a comeback late in the game, but the Bulldogs' defense made several plays to keep the visiting team in the lead. Lio Eveillard recorded two sacks on the night.
The Bulldogs will next play Mandarin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Mandarin.
