Sheriff James L. Manfre welcomed the latest school crossing guard to join the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office during a swearing-in ceremony on Monday, Oct. 17, at the Sheriff’s Operations Center.
Kermit Kidder, a native of East Liverpool, Ohio, is a retired pastor. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator. He and his wife, Joyce, moved to Palm Coast from St. Augustine where he served as a school crossing guard for St. Johns County.
Kidder will be serving as a crossing guard at Indian Trails Middle School and Belle Terre Elementary.
With the addition of Kidder, the Sheriff’s Office now has eight crossing guards and an alternate.
“I love kids. I enjoy it,” Kidder said before his swearing-in today. “I enjoy seeing the kids, saying hello and getting them across safely.”
