Storm debris has been a big problem, but Dave Dalecki, of Ormond-by-the-Sea, found a way to remove some items that had washed onto the beach and “repurpose” them.
Helped by his son, Dalton, Dalecki built a Hurricane Matthew Tiki Bar. Everything shown in the photo was found on the beach except for the tarp roof. He used boards, rope and stainless steel bolts.
Dalecki’s wife, Cindy, said he spent about six hours searching after high tides and worked on it part-time for about a week and a half. The Dalecki family had an inauguration party with neighbors and family.
Dalecki still wants to finish the roof, add benches and stain the surface.
“He’s glad to help keep these items from the landfill and maybe even save the County some tax dollars,” said Cindy Dalecki.
