The Seabreeze Sandcrabs fell to the DeLand Bulldogs 10-7 on Friday, Sept. 2, at Daytona Municipal Stadium.
After going down early 10-0 in the first quarter, the Sandcrabs' defense held the Bulldogs scoreless in the next three quarters. They often sacked the quarterback on key downs to either force a fourth down or a turnover on downs.
With five minutes gone in the fourth quarter, Brevin Glaze turned the contest into a nail biter, when he connected with Breonn Stauffer-McCormick for a 38-yard touchdown pass. Noah Motto kicked the extra point to pull the Sandcrabs within three points.
As DeLand attempted to run out the clock, the Bulldogs chose to pass on third down, and Isaac Mott caught the tipped pass and returned it to DeLand's red zone. Not able to score or convert a first down, Seabreeze sent Motto out to kick it from the 22-yard line to tie the game. Motto's kick was short and to the left.
The Sandcrabs' defense got the offense the ball back, but the offense was unable to capitalize on the final possession.
